Dr Aleš Fajmut

I finished my studies with Ph.D. in Physics in 2006 at the University of Maribor, where I have been working for 10 years; first as an Assistant and currently as an Assistant Professor. My pedagogical work comprised more than 10 different courses in General and Experimental Physics as well as Biophysics. Currently, as a vice-head of the Physics Department I am involved in several scientific projects and projects popularizing Physics. I am the author and co-author of lectures, lecture-notes, instructions for students and articles popularizing science. I work scientifically in the field of Theoretical Biophysics, Systems Biology and Mathematical Physiology. I study calcium-signal networks in smooth muscles and their contraction. Within my post doc education and research, I visited the Laboratory for Respiratory Cell-Physiology in Bordeaux and attended several Summer Schools on Biophysics. Results of my research have been published in renowned international scientific journals and presented with lectures and posters at several scientific conferences.
